Twister Rod Company has been using micro guides on our fishing rods for the last 3 years.  A micro guide in the industry is considered to be a guide with a 5mm ring or less. Using Micro Guides makes the fishing rod more sensitive because it takes all the weight off of the tip of the rod.  Weight is what kills sensitivity of the rod.  The more weight on the tip the less sensitive it will be.  We can put 20 3mm guides on a fishing rod that weigh less that 3 8 mm guides.
Also using micro guides you will gain better casting distance.  Some users have stated that casting distance increased up to 20% more than using regular sized guides.  The line coming off the reel will casting gets tamed down alot quicker thus allowing the energy of the cast to carry the lure out faster and further.
